Description
The inscription the bottom of this drawing misleading identifies the sitter as Constable’s third daughter, Emily. However, it appears to date from an earlier period and is instead perhaps a daughter of one of the families that Constable made numerous figure studies of in 1806, such as the Hobsons of Markfield House, Tottenham.
